More Market Moments

One of the things that I try to do is to chat with the designers that I've met over the years. I get inspired by every designer whether they're into primitive, country or contemporary.

I love Liesl's designs over at Oliver + S. So adorable in a sort of funky vintage sort of way. Simple yet so chic for your little ones.

I met Renee Plains of Liberty Star a couple of years back when we were both invited by American Patchwork and Quilting to their Designer's Retreat. Oh we were so pampered! She's a sweet lady and I love to visit with her.

Here she is with Jocelyn from Fat Quarter Shop.

I always love the details in her booth. The lovely little birdies were all around her booth.

Next, we have Traci over at the Bigfork booth. Love those quilts ladies!

As I was walking by the Designer's Workshop booth, this jacket caught my eye. Why? Oh, I designed the black and white fabrics a long while back for a kids line of flannels. So fun to see my fabrics used in someone's design.

I only had a quick look at the gorgeous quilts that they had on display. Here are my favorites. The workmanship, as seen in all of the quilts at the show, were phenomenal.

Market Moments

I bumped into Lazy Girl, Joan Hawley, and Claire, her new purse design and BFF in Pittsburgh. Isn't Claire adorable? You'll have to check out Joan's patterns on her website.

I ran into my friends from Quilty Pleasures in Ottawa. Great to see you ladies! I hope that you bought lots of goodies for your shop.

Stash was a new vendor in Pittsburgh. For those of you who only want to make blocks, this is an easy way to accomplish something. You make the block and then stitch it to the pillow cover or the quilt top. The quilt top is all quilted and you just slip your block into the front opening. Voila! Instant quilt.

I loved this line of fabric from Heather Ross displayed at the Seven Islands booth.  So whimsical and colorful.

Quilt Market - Part Infinity

I hope that you are all having a wonderful holiday. I haven't had much time to sit and sort through the pics left from Pittsburgh because my mom and aunt are still here from Canada. Sadly, they go home tomorrow.

Here's a few just to tie you over. From top to bottom, we have Lynda Milligan of Possibilities, Jody Sanders from American Patchwork and Quilting Magazine, and Patty Young. xo, L

Quilt Market - Part Three

I met Karla of Sweetwater, at my very first market. Super nice. I'm so happy for her because she just designed her first line of fabric for Moda. Congrats. I love her style, so simple and contemporary.

I always love the Seven Islands booth. They're distributors for all special things Japanese.

More market photos to come! xo, L

Quilt Market - Part Two

My first stop is always the Henry Glass booth. My favorite peeps in the whole show. Their booth was very fun as usual and the new lines were fabulous. Of course, we have my line, Inspiration.

I hope that you love this line. I designed the line that is for those who need a little lift in a difficult time. I wanted the line to say "caring, hopeful but fresh and bright".  I hope that I've captured that for you.

Henry Glass had this cute little farm line for all of the kids in your life.

There were lots of other fabric lines from the Henry Glass designers. You can check them out at their website. Heather Mulder Peterson is another fellow designer for Henry Glass Fabrics. So pretty!

Here's my friend, Roseann, visiting the Henry Glass aisle. You can see some designs from some of the designers in the background.

She owns a quilt shop in Minnesota and she does other interesting things within the quilting industry. We met at the American Patchwork and Quilting designer's retreat that they had a few years back. She's fun, energetic and passionate.

My friend, Amy Butler, has a new CD by The Electric Quilt Company. It has some fun and easy projects.

I met a new designer and PBS home dec show hostest, Vicki Payne. I love her home dec line.

Lots more to come. xo, L

Quilt Market - Part One

To market, to market, ...
What fun! I drove there this past weekend and it didn't disappoint! First, the drive was beautiful. I'll be taking my family back there this summer because our friend, Emily, just moved there with her family this spring. [I loved visiting you guys! Thanks!] My boys love the tunnels in the mountains.

I've got lots of photos but I thought I'd show these little quilter's gadgets first because there are some of you who are anxious to take a peek.

ez Quilting is manufacturing the Bias Tape Machine and the Rotary Cutting Machine. Gadgets that will make your life easier. Check them out. You can make all the bias tape you want and the electric rotary cutting machine will make cutting so much easier for you. The bias tape maker even has a little hot plate built in so that it presses as you pull out the strips.

So cool. xo, L

Back Home

I've been a bad blogger lately. I just got back from Quilt Market in Pittsburgh. I had lots of fun. I drove there and back myself so I'm a bit tired. I did get the center stitched on the dresdan plate. Do you like it? I'll get back to the excitement later. xo, L
