Are You Ready To Party?

We made it through Hurricane Sandy. My heart goes out to the families totally devastated by the storm. I was at Quilt Market but I cut my trip short and was lucky to catch the very last plane outbound to Newark. I waited from 2 a.m. until my flight at 10:43 a.m. It was a long day. I will get some market photos up soon.

Are you ready to party? Well, The Henry Glass Very Merry Holiday Party is on tomorrow morning! Join us, won't you? There are some fun giveaways and as always, lots of holiday ideas will be presented to you by the very talented designers in the Henry Glass family. I'm up first so come back tomorrow!

Halloween

I have been thinking about Halloween a lot but haven't gotten to the point of making my treats this year. I have the stash to make up some fun things but Quilt Market is on my mind! I was looking at some past ideas and they made me hungry! Read all about it here. What kind of treats are you making up this year? I am looking forward to eating some crocodile eyes ...

or how about some dragon's snot? It is delish when topped with some brain.

The kids' favorites are the specimens that they get to take home!

Then I can unwind with some wizard's brews. You can't beat the three flavors!

It's always fun to sport a new look. I have a few years before they have to shave but these are cute!

If we get sick from all of the candy, don't worry, I have a couple of doctors around the house!

Remember to visit all of the websites for Jill Finley's home sweet home Blook Tour. She also has a grand prize giveaway on her blog. My giveaway ends tonight! Make sure that you leave a comment there to enter!

home sweet quilt Blook Tour!

Hi, Lil' A here. Welcome to the second day of Jill Finley's home sweet quilt Blook Tour! Aurifil did a great job yesterday!

Mom doesn't know this but we reviewed this book. She's making breakfast and we want to eat. I have the help of my  brother, Big A. Together we will give you an unbiased review of this new quilt book written by Jill and published by Martingale & Co.

The photos in the book are beautiful and we think that this quilt is our favorite. We like the projects on the chair too!

Do you want to see some of Mom's favorites? We know that she loves this one on the chair.

Mom says that Miss Finley make very pretty quilts and she does some amazing applique work.

Mom loves this one a lot because she loves words on quilts. This quilt includes food so we like it too.

Wanna see some more great photos? Martingale & Co. has some over here. We think that the book is beautiful. The instructions are clear and the diagrams are great!

Guess what? One lucky winner will win an e-book version of home sweet quilt. We hit Mom's stash of books and we are going to give that winner a copy of her new book, Sew Merry and Bright, too! Don't tell please because we don't want a time out or something. Tell us what you love about quilting. We will give away a SECOND copy of mom's book to you if you tell us what you thought about our review. We'll choose a name next Sunday. Deadline to enter is Sunday, October 21, 2012 at midnight.

Follow Mom here on this blog so that you'll know who won the books. She's been working on a top secret new website. It is almost finished. We'll tell you what it's all about here or on Facebook

So, run out to your local quilt shop to buy Miss Finley's awesome book! You won't regret it!

Make sure that you follow along on this awesome blook tour. All of the details and info on the participants are here. We think that Miss Finley is very clever. Blook Tour. Get it?

It's Time To Get Back To Regular Programming!

Hey everyone! Remember me? Yeah, me, your old friend, Linda. It is time to get back to this ol' blog. The last post was in August and that is about the time that I got sick. It was like a bad cold that continually sucked all of my energy away and I still have a tickle but the worst is over. Let's just forget it happened. I don't want to do it again. I literally haven't sewn in months, I've worked slowly and steadily. Now that fall is here, it's crunch time.

So, for the next few weeks it will suddenly feel as though I have so much to share with you! First, I am happy to announce that I will be part of my friend Jill Finley's Blook Tour! Clever isn't she? That's why she's my friend! Martingale did a fabulous job on her book and I can't wait to show all of you! Make sure that you hang around because you could win her book! Here's the exciting line up:

Saturday, October 13: Aurifil Threads [www.auribuzz.wordpress.com]
Sunday, October 14: Linda Lum DeBono [www.lindalumdebono.blogspot.com]
Monday, October 15: Madamme Samm [www.sewwequilt.com]
Tuesday, October 16: Pam Vieira-McGinnis [www.pamkittymorning.blogspot.com]
Wednesday, October 17: Amy Ellis [www.amyscreativeside.com/blog]
Thursday, October 18: Stitch This [Martingale] [http://blog.shopmartingale.com]

Come back next week for more announcements!

Day 12: Mark Lipinski

Thanks for following along on the Sew Merry and Bright book tour! All of the posts have been great! Some of the giveaways are still going on too! I hope that you enjoy the book as much as I enjoyed designing and writing it!

Today my special guest is my good buddy, Mark Lipinski! I am afraid but excited to see what he's up to today because he asked for a photo of me from my childhood.

Today is also the first day of the Henry Glass Summer Party. Enjoy!

Day 11: Fat Quarter Shop!

Thanks to Aurifil for their fabulous post yesterday. Who doesn't love some awesome thread? I have designed a few projects for their blog. I used their thread in this book. Their colors are to die for! In case you missed it, go and check see what this box is all about!

Today I welcome the Fat Quarter Shop! Kimberly Jolly founded the Fat Quarter Shop in 2003. She is an avid quilter [though I don't know how she does it with four kids and a busy business!].

She puts together some fabulous kits and creative bundles and. Her husband, Kevin, has joined in the business. You can't miss their clever marketing bundles and of particular interest, take a look at their holiday shop, The Christmas Cloth Store at the Fat Quarter Shop. Here's fellow Henry Glass designer's Snow Much Fun Flannel.

Fat Quarter Shop has Kate Spain's Joy collection too!

You can still enter to win some wonderful things at the Martingale, Henry Glass, Fat Quarterly, and Pat Sloan.

Enjoy!

Day 10: Sew Merry and Bright with Aurifil

Thank you to Fat Quarterly yesterday for their lovely post for this tour! You can read it here. Remember, there are still some awesome giveaways here, here and here.

Today the Aurifil crew writes their review for the Sew Merry and Bright Book Tour. I love Aurifil threads. I love the colors and it is smooth as silk.

Speaking of Christmas, I designed this pillow for Aurifil. The reindeer is so adorable. Go over there and grab the pattern. It's a free download. Give them some love and you have a chance to win some awesome thread! It's a box of the colors that I used in the projects in the book.

On a different note, Henry Glass Fabrics is having a Summer Party. Tune in to read about some fun, summer antics. The designers have been busy. Win some fabric while you're there.

Have a great weekend!

Day 9: Welcome Fat Quarterly!

Thanks to Kim Diehl for her great post yesterday on the Henry Glass blog! You can still enter the giveaway over at Henry Glass, at Pat Sloan's post here and Martingale's here.

Today, we have the fabulous folks over at Fat Quarterly magazine. Pat has a two-part interview with the Fat Quarterly family. I love to read the e-zine because I can take it with me when I am sitting around waiting for my kids when they're in tae kwon do, piano or whatever else I am waiting for!

I was asked which was my favorite design to make. I would have to say that I had tons of fun with the Holiday Musical Chairs and the Oh Nuts! ornament.  For the Holiday Musical Chairs, it was all about having fun with the fabrics and moving that square around!

Oh Nuts! was a favorite because my son sat beside me watching it's progress. He had a serious interest in the design.

Enjoy!
