Have Jingle Will Rock

Are you still following along on this blog party? All of the ladies have designed some wonderful projects for you, haven't they? The posts are fun too! Today, Barbara Jones of QuiltSoup and Anni Downs of Hatched and Patched are the party planners. They've got some wonderful surprises for you [Barb is having a sale too!]

I thought I'd review some freebies that I've presented in the past. Last year I designed the reindeer pillow seen at the top for Aurifil. Go and print out the pattern here!

Then I designed the Have Jingle, Will Rock pillow for the Henry Glass Designers blog hop last year. I love this one because it's just oh so cool.

Come on back or visit my Facebook pages for some fun.

Oh, Boy! Owlish Delight For You!

Boys. You just have to love them. My guys are fun and spunky. How about yours? What's more fun? Hanging out with more boys like cousins ...

and friends. Oh, they're cute, aren't they?

How about literary buddies who get to travel to great places like New York, Toronto, Malta, New Zealand, Utah, Michigan, Vermont, and it goes on.

This little boy is very grateful for your help. It touched his heart. He was deeply affected by your generosity. "Boy, you do have some friggin' awesome friends, Mom." That "f" word slipped and he did say it to me. I put it in to show you how impressed he was. Then his mouth was promptly washed with soap and he was banned from hanging out with the one who taught him the word at school for a while. I still love my little foul-mouthed guy so don't call the authorities, ok?

He asked me to make something for you. Well, there were many of you who responded to our plea. How about a pattern instead? I did a demo on Quilt Out Loud this month. This was the design that was to be sold but I decided to give it to you, my rockin' awesome readers. [Note the absence of the "f" word.] Please enjoy and we would love to see your photos!! You can find the pattern here.

Thank you to Jodie Davis, Mark Lipinski and their awesome crew. It was so much fun to have you guys here. Check it out!

Most of all, THANK YOU!

Fall-O-Ween Day 9: Haunts

Thank you so much for following our blog hop! As with last year's holiday hop, I enjoyed writing, designing the project and reading your comments. Remember to leave a message on every blog to qualify for a grand prize!! Check them out here!

Also, remember to post your projects here. We'd love to see what you've done!

For those who don't know me, my name is Linda Lum DeBono. I live with my hubby, Reno, and my two boys, Adam and Alex, in New Jersey. [By the way, if you can't seem to grow your own mustache and you want one or two or four to try out, get some glittered paper and print out the patterns here.]

I am a designer in the crafts industry. I design quilts and fabrics. I've also written books on scrapbooking and knitting. You can view my portfolio here.

I design fabric for Henry Glass Fabrics. My next line, Hugs & Kisses is going to hit the store shelves in November.

 There's a free pattern too!

I've written books for That Patchwork Place/Martingale and Leisure Arts. I've also designed for Quilts and More, American Patchwork and Quilting and Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks.  My presents quilt is printed as an insert for American Patchwork and Quilting. How lovely would it be as a holiday quilt?

The lovely people at Martingale send their well wishes and would like one of the readers of this blog to win this pile of beautiful books!

Leisure Arts is offering up an equally impressive giveaway of these books. Aren't they lovely?

Coming soon is my block for Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks. They've generously offered up a copy for me to give away to one lucky winner. I'm going to be part of their November blog hop too. Check back for the details.

I also love Aurifil Threads and am one of their Aurifil Experts. Stay tuned in a few weeks to see a new design that I designed for Aurifil and for you.

Make sure that you download Creative Mojo with Mark Lipinski. I was a guest on his radio show last week and it was fun, fun, fun!!

Believe was my first block of the month design and I've just re-published it as one complete pattern. It fits the season, don't you think?

Technology is playing a big part of my life right now. I enjoy chatting with my friends on Facebook [but I've ignored my Twitter account]. I'm excited too with a new collaboration with Craftedu. It's a new on-line community and on-line teaching resource. I will be posting my first class Chirp!  this week. It is a fun little class for beginners.  Join the community! It's free! There are a lot of amazing artists in this group. I hope to publish my second class there in the next few weeks.

Last week, I was friended on Facebook by Naef toys [makers of handmade toys] and then a creative bolt hit my little head. They had a drawing of a cat draw on their blocks. So, I thought, why not a haunted house? I sent him a message and within two hours, Jeffrey, arty Naef guy extraordinaire, had drawn me this image on his blocks. How cool is that? Thanks, Jeffrey! Also, how generous is it that they are offering one lucky winner a 20% off any item promo. Just comment here and I will choose the winner.

Around here, we sat around our deck the other night when it was still warm enough. These adorable paper bags lit up the deck. Spooky! We'll use them again on Halloween.

This mill just at the end of main street in our town is transformed into a ghoulishly haunted place in October where people wait for hours to have the wits scared out of them.

Now, for my design of the day, I present, Trick or Treat! I hope you like it!!

The pattern is here. Thanks for your patience!! *Drats, I hate when this happens. Shirley in Canada was nice enough to point out that my pattern should have said cut 2 1/2" instead of 2". Here is the download for the quilt if you've already cut 2" squares.
So, tell your friends to check out the other designer blogs. They've done an awesome job so far and we only have the one and only Pat Sloan left to do her post. Thanks Gudrun, Sandy, Roseann, Kari, Terri, Terry, Carrie, Heather and Pat for writing and designing some awesome posts this time around!

Remember to comment on the other blogs to be eligible for the grand prize and to comment here to win one of the prizes here. I will pick a few winners!

Thanks for joining us on this journey!

Happy Halloween!!

Awareness. Giving. Giveaway.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I'm sure that many of you have been affected or know someone who has been affected by this horrible disease. I encourage you to do your part in promoting awareness of breast cancer and to learn or share information about the disease.

My latest fabric line is called "Inspiration" and I not only love how pretty the line is but also how positive and uplifting it is when you look at each of the prints. I've designed this little pouch pattern for you.

Make one for yourself, for family or for a friend. I've so much fun with this little pouch. I added photo transfers onto the fronts of a few of them for a dash of personality. I've even added a few inches to one so that I could make a larger pouch.

I hope that you love this zippity pouch as much as I do. Get the pattern here.

Please briefly share your story in the comments section and I will giveaway 5 fat quarter stacks of "Inspiration".

xo, L
p.s. Sorry the post looks so wonky and weird. Anyone else experiencing this on Blogger? My images only show up as word text when I am loading and the text spaces are strange.

Earth Day

I'm having some technical difficulties. Here is the pattern for the Earth Day Bath Mat. I'm working on putting the file in the correct spot. Enjoy!

Be Green

To commemorate Earth Day, I made this little bath mat from a towel and some scrap fabric from my Funky Flowers line of fabric. I love the greens and the browns. Makes me more impatient for spring. Pattern will be posted at the end of the week. Enjoy and do your share.

Merry Little Garland

Update: I have the templates posted on my sidebar. Have fun making them!

I made this fun little garland to spruce up my little corner of the universe. It sits on my bulletin board above my desk. I love the colors and it is a bit modern with a tradition
al flair in its shape. Wanna tutorial? Well, here goes! [I should have the templates up sometime today.]

First, you need to cut out 7 oval shapes from white felt and 7 ornament shapes from red felt. Trace and cut out the letter applique shapes from fusible web. Fuse the letters onto the white felt and zigzag around the letters with coordinating thread.

Next, using white thread, sew around the oval with a scant seam allowance as shown below.

You will end up with this. Before you go across the top of the oval, place a piece of folded ribbon at the top and continue sewing. Make sure that the sewing goes over the ribbon.

You should have a little hanging ribbon attached like this.

Thread the ribbon through the hanger to make the garland and hang up to enjoy! xo, L

Be Merry!

*Update: I have the tree template posted there on the free patterns sidebar. Love to see what you make from it. Try the design as a greeting card, or other sewing project and enjoy!

I suddenly feel as though I have a million, no, a trillion, things on my plate. I have a few goodies for you to make as last minute gifts over the next week. Being sick set me back a bit but tell the truth, I am a big procrastinator when it comes to certain things. [Lots of us procrastinate, right? Reno can tell you that my most inspired moments happen when something is needed, like, uh, yesterday.] So, I am here to help you with that wee problem.

I made this tea towel for a magazine but they only used the card portion of the design. I just couldn't not let the world see it. I bought an antique tea towel at my local shop of all things beautiful, Heart Strings, but any towel will do. Cut a triangle for the tree base and a small star and fuse. I printed the "be merry" wording by selecting a font and coloring it in black and white, and printing it onto a Printed Treasures fabric sheet. I fused that at the bottom. You can most certainly use any of the fabric tags that the scrapbooking companies have on the market. Then I free-motion sewed the swirls for the tree. I bought some fancy green lace at JoAnn's and sewed it along the bottom of the towel. Instant hostess gift. I'll  have the pattern posted later today.

Noel

I thought that I'd start with a project that has been available on my web site in case any of you haven't seen it yet. You can find the pattern here.

I love the simplicity of this stocking. I used felt for the body of the stocking. It's fairly small so put little trinkets in it or just use it to dress up a corner. Meanwhile, I will be back soon. I'm on meds right now and I can't seem to shake this cold. Enjoy and I'd love to see your work.
