Fall-O-Ween Day 8: Traditions

Thanks for all of the warm wishes yesterday. We're getting a lot better but what a weekend to get a cold! It was gorgeous outside and there was a quilt show going on around here.

Today, it's the lovely Carrie's turn. It will be fun to see what she's brewing up for you. Sorry, I couldn't help myself. It's the medicine, I swear. The other ladies are doing a great job too! Let's go hopping!

Also, remember to post your projects here. We'd love to see what you've done!!

Pumpkins are serious business for my kids and every year we go and pick out the best of the lot. We come home and paint or carve them so that we can display them for the neighborhood to see.

There's a corridor that goes south of here that takes you to a few cute quaint towns in New Jersey and into Pennsylvania. Right on the Delaware River, there's Lambertville, NJ and directly across the bridge is New Hope, Pennsylvania. It's such a beautiful area and every fall there's the lovely craft show.

This was taken on the New Hope side looking towards Lambertville.

My little one just had to have one of these necklaces.

This view is from the bridge looking south toward Washington Crossing State Park area. You know, that place where all of this happened [taken from the Dept. of Parks and Forestry]:

On December 25, 1776, the icy waters of the Delaware River provided the setting for one of the pivotal events of the American Revolution. The Continental Army had little to celebrate that Christmas and seemed beat by hunger and cold. After crossing the rough winter river at night, General George Washington and the Continental Army landed at Johnson’s Ferry, at the site now known as Washington Crossing State Park. At 4 am, they began their march to Trenton where they defeated the Hessian troops in an unexpected attack. This battle was quickly followed by the Second Battle of Trenton on January 2, 1777, and the Battle of Princeton on January 3, 1777.

There's a vintage clothing and fabric shop in Lambertville that 's always fun to visit.

See you tomorrow!! It's my day!

Fall-O-Ween 7: Gatherings

Wow, we are moving along in our Fall-O-Ween Blog Hop aren't we? Are you having fun? My son and I are nursing a little cold but we hope to recover soon. Today, it's Terri's turn. Hop on over to see what she has in store for you! Remember to comment on each designers's blogs to be eligible for the grand prize. Truly, inspiring posts by each of the ladies, don't you think? Check them out here:

Also, remember to post your finished projects here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/2010falloweenhop/

We have fun at our school at Halloween. The biggest thing we do is to have the entire school get together and to walk into town in a parade in all of our Halloween finery. That includes the superintendent, principal, teachers and students. What fun! Our friends are cute as cheerleaders, aren't they? Go Steelers! Go Penn State!

The costumes are so fine. [Well, mine decided that he didn't want to put on a costume that year. I coaxed him into putting on the Mater costume over his coat but I digress. We do have fun.]

Then it's back to school for some more fun.

My favorite game includes putting these yummy things into a bowl of cold spaghetti and making the poor wee ones dig in and try to find them all. Ewwww! I printed these cards out and let each child check off each item that they find. It can get messy!

In addition to the Halloween party, there's always a birthday party to plan.

After those two parties, we move on to the Thanksgiving party.

There's never a dull moment. xo, L

Fall-O-Ween 6: Decoration

Today is going to be a visual feast. Very few words. My son has been sick all night and I think that I may be coming down with a little something. I can't!! I have a blog hop to finish and my "The Art of Journaling and Scrapbooking" class for my son's school enrichment program is starting on Monday. Guess who's the teacher? Me!

Before I start though, you must check out all of the other designers' blogs. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful stuff being published in blogland. Remember to comment too to be qualified for the large grand prize worth over $500 in the end.

Don't forget to post any finished projects of yours from the blog hop here on Flickr.

Also, Mark Lipinski has my visit to his radio show, Creative Mojo with Mark Lipinski, up on iTunes ready for a free download. It is the second podcast.

I am so lucky to live in a town of funky little shops. One of my very favorites is Heartstrings. She's located right on main street and she's been her for 30+ years. Truly inspiring. If you are local or are visiting the Clinton area, drop by her shop. You won't regret the experience. Otherwise, I think that she may have a website going up at some point in the future. Don't quote me on it though. She puts a lot of thought and care into her place. Just take a look at the front window above and below.

I want this tree. I love it.

See you tomorrow! xo, L

We do have a winner of the Fabric Trends magazine! Congratulations! Please e-mail me your details at the link on the right.

"I'd love to have that zine. I heard him talk about how he made sure the fabrics he featured were NOT already out in the market and gone before we could even read about them."

I live among superheroes and villains in disguise. By day they're just lil' kids hanging around on their scooters and playing with their toys. Totally innocent. After school though, watch out. Crime and destruction ensue. Then the superhero must come to the rescue.

Little A tried out life as Superman but didn't care for it much because he didn't have a cool car and he didn't think that superheroes should be driven around by their mommies. So, he lives life as Batman instead. Big A is a brainiac surgeon when he isn't busy playing Pokemon.

Dr. A and Batman were friends once upon a time. Unfortunately, Dr. A became evil because someone zapped his brain into thinking that he was someone else.
His friend Batman didn't believe that Dr. A was a bad guy at heart. So, Batman fought the evil but not really evil Dr. A in an attempt to stop the bad electronic pulses that zapped through his friend's brain. Pow! Pow!
In the end, Batman won and he got his old friend back again. Another day of work was done. Ah, the life of a superhero is never dull.

Then they grew up and they both became quite famous brain surgeons. They used their skills for good instead of for evil.

The end.
